The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and Panos Europe Institute reached out to a scientific committee composed of eight international and civil society organisations working in the field of migration to draft the first version of this media-freindly glossary on migration: IDMC, IFRC, ILO, IOM, OHCHR, PICUM, TdH and UNHCR.
The definitions provided by these organisations were subsequently reviewed by an editorial committee of media professionals, specialised in migration, working at The Globe and Mail, The Guardian, University of Columbia and the Sydney Morning Herald. The glossary was first presented in Bali (Indonesia), during the 6th Global Forum of the UNAOC / 28-30 August.
This glossary is the result of a year-long project supported by the Open Society Foundations. More information following this link (Panos Europe).

DHAKA, Bangladesh (Thomson Reuters Foundation) – Bangladesh plans to cut spending from its own budget on climate change adaptation and rely more in the future on funds from donors, government officials said.
The low-lying South Asian nation, considered one of the countries most at risk from climate impacts such as sea level rise, worsening erosion and erratic rainfall, has been a leader in the developing world in committing its own funds to climate adaptation. Officials allocated $320 million from the country’s budget over five years to a domestic climate adaptation fund, said Finance Minister A.M.A. Muhith in a budget speech to parliament.
